“우리가 살고 싶은 집이었어요.”
퇴직후 하루 세끼 소박한 삶을 꿈꾸던 부부는 어떻게 자신들의 생각을 알았냐는 듯 계획안을 신기해한다. 설계자에게 참 신나는 순간이다.
물론 계획안이 하루 아침에 나온 것은 아니다. 부부의 삶을 관찰하고 공감하기 위한 다양한 워크시트 과정을 2달여 진행한 결과다. 그렇게 나온 계획안을 두고 다시 상세한 협의들이 진행된다. 예산이 반영된 실시설계를 하지 않으면 시공시 돌이킬 수 없는 시행착오를 겪게 되기 때문이다. 그
렇게 건축주의 삶에 마음을 기울이고, 많은 이야기를 나누며 일상을 집에 담아내려 노력했다.
시공기간은 터파기부터 준공까지 4개월이 걸렸다. 설계는 그 두배의 시간인 8개월여가 소요됐다. 8개월의 긴 기간동안 항상 설레임으로 일산에서 전주까지 장거리를 오간 건축주께 감사드린다. 설계하는 우리 역시 최선을 다하려 언제나 노력했고, 집이 다 지어졌을 때는 아쉬운 마음마저 들었다.
삼시세끼 하우스는 언제나 그 자리를 지키며 노년 부부의 희노애락을 담아내는 그런 집이 되어 줄 것이다. /<설계노트>
현관을 들어서면 집은 사랑채와 안채로 나뉜다. 거실과 서재로 구성된 사랑채는 남편의 주 생활공간이다. 그는 이곳에서 사람들을 만나고, 좋아하는 음악을 듣고, 마주한 서재에서 책을 읽으며 작업에 집중하기도 한다. 서재공간은 가끔오는 딸과 지인들을 위한 게스트룸의 역할도 겸한다.
사랑채와 안채를 이어주는 곳은 갤러리 공간이다. 그림과 꽃과 나무를 좋아하는 감성가득한 아내를 위한 공간은 이곳부터 시작 된다. 그녀가 아끼는 작품들이 자연을 가득 품은 중정과 함께 어울어진다.
안채는 주방과 안방으로 구성되었다. 주방은 아내에게는 거실의 공간이다. 햇볕과 주위 풍광이 가득한 주방에서 친구들도 초대하며 그녀만의 시간을 보낸다. 주방곁의 안방에 들어서면 큰 창문가득 중정과 하늘이 가득하다. 적당히 가깝지도 멀지도 않은 거리에 남편의 서재가 위치해 있어 안심하고 자신만의 시간을 가질 수 있다.
삼시세끼 하우스는 동남향 배치다. 남측면에 있는 안채는 건물높이를 낮게 계획했다. 거실, 서재, 갤러리공간, 주방, 안방 등 주요실과 중정에 아침부터 저녁까지 햇살이 골고루 비춰진다.
프라이버시를 최대한 확보하면서 개방성을 주기위해 옆집과는 루버와 관목을 통해 시선차단을 유도했다. 현관의 경우 도로에서의 직접적 시선을 차단하기 위한 진입축을 형성했다. 안채의 뒷마당은 인근에 자리한 산책로보다 지반고가 높아 그 경계를 다양한 관목을 식재해 자연스럽게 프라이버시를 확보했다.
주차장 구획에서는 한뼘잔디를 식재해 자연을 담았다. 현관으로 들어오는 길에는 새를 좋아하는 건축주를 위해 가족(아빠,엄마,딸)을 상징하는 새와 가끔 집에 오는 딸이 너무도 좋아하는 강아지 조형물을 배치했다.

|The house : Just want to take three meals a day|
“The House We Wanted to Live In.”
The couple who dreamed of simply getting “three square meals a day” after retirement were amazed at how the design of the house aligned with what they imagined. It was also a thrilling moment for the architect.
Needless to say, the house wasn’t designed in one morning. The final design was the result of spending about two months observing the couple’s lifestyle and a variety of worksheets to gain insight into exactly what they wanted. With the design plans that came out of the previous process, more detailed consultations of the home design were carried out.
The budget had to be taken into consideration in the final design of the home as construction of the home could not be done through trial and error.
With our ears always open and through many consultations with the home owners, we tried to include their tastes and preferences in the design of the house. The construction of the house took four months from excavation to completion. The planning had taken double that, eight months. We thank the home owners for their willingness to travel from Ilsan to Jun-Ju for those eight long months. We always tried to do our best to design the building and we regretted that the project was over when the house was complete.

If you stand and look in from the entrance way, the house is divided into the main quarters and the detached quarters for the husband. The detached quarters, which is comprised of a living room and a study, is the space for the husband’s daily activities. It’s the place where he can meet with people and listen to music that he likes. It also faces the study so he can focus while reading books and doing his work. The study also doubles as a guestroom for the daughter and guests that may occasionally visit.
The gallery is the area that connects the main quarters and the detached quarters. This is the starting point of the area for the wife who is filled with sensibilities for trees, flowers, and pictures. The artworks and plentiful nature that she cherishes blends in well with the inner court.
The main part of the house is composed of the kitchen and the main bedroom. The kitchen is part of the living room area meant for the wife. The kitchen is filled with sunlight and the surrounding nature. This is where the wife can invite her friends and spend her own time. Going inside the main bedroom next to the kitchen, the window is filled with a view of the courtyard and the sky. Because the detached quarters is located nearby, the wife can spend her time in the main quarters with a feeling of security.
“Samsi Saeki House” is positioned facing the southeast. The height of the main building facing the south was designed to be low. From the morning to the evening, sunlight shines evenly into the main rooms: the living room, study, gallery, kitchen, main bedroom, as well as, the courtyard.
While securing maximum privacy and providing openness, a louver and bushes were positioned to prevent an inside view from the house next door. In the entrance way, a barrier was made to block the view directly from the road. Behind the main building, the ground level near the backyard is higher than the walking trail. Along the border of the backyard, bushes were planted to provide natural privacy.
A patch of grass was planted in a section of the parking lot to give a natural feeling. The home owners love birds, so bird sculptures that symbolized the family (father, mother, daughter), were arranged along the entrance. Puppy sculptures were also placed along the entrance for the daughter that occasionally visits.
