A crisp, contemporary extension to contrast and compliment the traditional aesthetic of the existing property. Set in the historic town of Linlithgow, the design maximises views across the client’s expansive and well maintained grounds.

A limited palette of quality materials, including sandstone and whinstone re-used from the base of the conservatory replaced by the extension, high performance triple glazing and zinc standing seam roofing allows a clean, uncluttered aesthetic.

Collaborating from the outset with the structural engineer DR Murray, we positioned supporting steelwork within wall panels and subtly aligning with clerestory glazing. This facilitates the ‘floating’ roof, maximising natural daylight into the extension.

The project commenced on site November 2014 and successfully completed February 2015.
