A major conservation project at Bossington House, a fine Grade II listed property in Bossington, Kent, which transformed a former care home back into a superb family residence.

The character of Bossington House is derived in part from its long history of alterations. The origins of the house are believed to be medieval and the original framed structure is still evident in much of the house. The impressive brick south façade was built as part of a major extension programme in the 18th century and further additions to the house followed during the 19th century.

In 1984 the house underwent an unsympathetic conversion into a care home for the elderly and a single storey, red brick clay tiled accommodation wing was constructed to the north of the main house, with a conservatory linking the main house with the new wing.

When our client acquired the house in 2005 it was in a poor condition and work focused on restoring the original and 18th century areas of the house. In addition the project included a major re-ordering of the 20th century accommodation wing to include a gymnasium and guest accommodation serving the main house.

A key feature of the refurbished property is the new kitchen constructed from three smaller rooms and sensitively extended to form a breakfast room.
