프로젝트

I want my pots to be connect to user's hearts.

I see the runny crystalline glaze, which I use on a part of my pots, is like emotions, such as happiness, sadness, anger etc. Any strong feeling just appears like a flood in our heart. Can't help stopping.  I wish my pots synchronized with user's heart.

Pot is one of the items for treating someone. In the Japanese tea ceremony, host choose a tea bowl by deeply thinking of the main guest for treating him or her. Such situations can be happen anytime in our daily lives, not only in the special occasions. Every morning, you treat yourself by choose a cup for coffee. I couldn't be happier if you make your life a little bit more comfortable with my pots.

About myself

I started ceramics when I was in Bunka Women's University in Tokyo. I also studied ceramics in Alfred University in NY for two years. Studying in Alfred University gave me a new perspective on my life, I recognized ceramics as my life long friend. After getting BA at Alfred, I had spent a wonderful year at Brickhouse Ceramic Art Center in Long Island city, NY. I realized that we can all share the joy of ceramics from young to old, from different cultures and backgrounds. There are no barriers.   After coming back to Japan, I chose to stay in Mashiko, which is one of the most famous pottery towns in Japan. Through my stay in the USA , I realized my lack of knowledge of Japanese pottery. I am glad that I could discover a wonderful spirit of Mingei (folk crafts), which is an important part of Japanese pottery culture. Currently I am working as a ceramics instructor and helping to run an art studio in Shibuya, Tokyo. I love to see people smiling when they play with clay and when see their finished work. This is what gives me my motivation.   I set up my own work space in my apartment in 2013, which gives me more time for my own project. I see ceramics as a language for communicating thoughts and feelings with people around the world. I believe ceramics can express something more than words. I hope to share the wonderful experience of ceramics with you.
